Group classes are a great way to learn about what communication arts is all about- communicating with others.

 

These project-based classes encourage students to collaborate with one another to improve their skills in speech & debate, theatre, creative writing, video production, and overall communication arts. 

In-Person Sessions
Audition Exploration Course

Taught by a variety of master coaches

Grades 3-5
June 21- June 25
9 am-3 pm
$315

This class will be meeting in person and will offer students the opportunity to work with audition coaches in theatre, music, art, dance, and communication arts! Students will be able to discover and grow their talents while determining which art areas they wish to pursue in the future. Master coaches will teach 2-hour virtual workshops each morning to the students in person. Students will collaborate on projects and activities related to each art area in the afternoons.

The course will be held at Wellington Preparatory School.

Middle School Speech & Debate Course

Taught by Mrs. Bornia

Grades 6-8
July 26- July 30
9 am-3 pm
$315

Students will develop public speaking skills through a variety of presentations as well as competitive speech and debate events including impromptu speaking, congressional debate, original oratory, and more. This IN-PERSON class is intended for new and experienced 6th-8th grade students interested in speech and debate.

The course will be held at Wellington Preparatory School.

Movie Making Course

Taught by Ms. Radley

AGES 8-10

Mondays from 11 am-1 pm

Tuesdays from 11 am-1 pm
6 weeks - 6 / 2-hour classes

In this class, Ms. Radley will teach you how to storyboard, write treatments and scripts, how to pitch your stories, and how to film and edit your own short films right from home! 

 

Intro to Creative Writing

Taught by Ms. Salzman

GRADES 3-5

June 28 - August 2

Mondays from 4-5 PM

$150, plus $25 registration fee collected at registration

Students will learn about the different aspects of writing stories. The course includes 6 weeks with a focus on developing stories, including character development, setting, plot, and working with dialogue. Ms. Salzman will work with students to create fables, myths, poetry, narratives, and more.

Intro to Communication Arts

Taught by Ms. Salzman

GRADES 4-5

June 29 - August 3

Tuesdays from 4-5 PM

$150, plus $25 registration fee collected at registration

Students will receive an introduction to the different aspects of the communication arts audition for middle school. The course includes 6 weeks of instruction provided by Ms. Salzman with a focus on public speaking, news article writing, media analysis, and more.
