ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASSES

Group classes are a great way to learn about what communication arts is all about- communicating with others.

 

These project-based classes encourage students to collaborate with one another to improve their skills in speech and debate, public speaking, creative writing, television/video production, theatre, and digital media. 

 

 

Communication Arts Audition Course- FALL 2019

 

Starting at the end of August through mid-January, students will learn about the different aspects of the communication arts audition for Bak Middle School of the Arts and Dreyfoos School of the Arts. The course includes 18 weeks with a focus on public speaking, creative writing, graphic design, and more. 5th grade and up only for Bak Prep. 8th grade and up only for Dreyfoos Prep.

 

Classes start August 21 

Cost: 5 payments of $144 (Total $720)

Theatre Audition Course- FALL 2019

 

Starting at the end of August through mid-January, students will learn about the different aspects of the theatre audition for Bak School of the Arts. The course includes 18 weeks with a focus on creating scenes with a partner, taking direction, cold-readings, and more. 

 

Class starts August 19th 

Cost: 5 payments of $144 (Total $720)

Digital Media Audition Course- FALL 2019

Starting mid-September through mid-January, students will learn about the different aspects of the digital media audition for Dreyfoos School of the Arts. The course includes 15 weeks with a focus on storyboarding, photography composition, essay writing, audition strategy, and more. 

 

Class starts September 12th excluding school holidays.

Cost: 4 payments of $150 (Total $600)

Once Upon a Time Acting Class

Once upon a time acting class introduces young students to the importance of building characters to create stories. Students will learn life skills such as: confidence, focus, use of verbal skills, and build creativity all through performing arts. Students will explore the use of their body to express themselves clearly. Students will strive to sustain a character through vocal and physical techniques that are given and practiced in class while staying in character to tell a story.15 classes.

All the World's a Stage Acting Class

All the world’s a stage acting class introduces students to the skills and disciplines needed to be a focused and successful actor. Class is based on group activities, acting techniques, scene work, monologues, improvisation, and imagination. This course will provide a wonderful opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively in an unintimidating and accepting class environment where students will grow artistically. 15 classes.

Intro to Creative Writing

This creative writing class will provide your child with all the necessary resources they will need to create their own unique short story! Each class will focus on specific concepts, such as character development, point of view and editing techniques. Your young writer will leave the class with a short story that is engaging and interesting and most importantly something they will be proud of. 15 classes.

Intro to Communication Arts

Students will learn about the different aspects of communication arts including public speaking, creative writing, graphic design, and video production through group projects with a different monthly theme. Classes will culminate with a showcase of student work at the end of the spring session. 15 classes.

Public Speaking / Debate

Students will develop public speaking skills through a variety of presentations as well as competitive speech and debate events including impromptu speaking, congressional debate, original oratory, and more. Classes will culminate with a showcase of student performances at the end of the spring session. 15 classes.
